The Barstow School in Kansas City wants to truly engage their students in solutions to global issues–late Spring this year they will travel to Vietnam and Cambodia to learn about clean water projects and literacy campaigns in rural villages. GoPhilanthropic Founder Lydia Dean visited the school this week to speak directly with the students about their desire to see more than the notable sights of Indochina–the student travelers will raise money throughout the year for water well and library projects through various fundraisers and will learn first-hand the importance of their support when they personally connect with the communities during their travel. Bartow’s efforts reveal the importance of raising young philanthropists who want to more fully understand the context of global problems, and the most effective ways to provide opportunity for those striving to for a better future.
