Sponsor a Child to go to School - Vietnam
Children’s Education Foundation (CEF)
WHAT THEY DO
Vietnam represents a land of contrasts, encompassing both harshness and hope:
--Harshness in the fact that it is a culture typically favoring males, and where sometimes young girls may be trafficked if not in school.
--Hope in that CEF is working to shift this Imbalance through offering educational sponsorships and a life of choices to the poorest of the poor in Hoi An and outlying areas of central Vietnam.
CEF sponsored children come from impoverished and marginalized communities, such as those from mountainous areas, minority tribes and leper communities. A sponsorship allows a child to complete her schooling or receive further education and training; something they could not possibly do on their own. Linda Hutchinson-Burn founded CEF after she visited Vietnam in 1999 and saw first hand the plight of these children. Currently over 200 children are receiving the gift of education through sponsorships. Recognizing that children often have unique health needs as well, GoPhilanthropic created a GO Healthy Kids Fund, of which CEF is a partner. CEF also recently introduced a one of a kind literacy encouragement program so that books can be delivered to children in outlying areas.
GoPhilanthropic was introduced to CEF in 2011 and was impressed with the organization's personal connections and long-term commitment to each girl funded. Team member Linda DeWolf has worked intensively with CEF for the past four years, spending time in Vietnam with the staff, doing home visits and interacting with the children, in order to understand their needs. Currently, GoPhilanthropic donors are supporting education for approximately 35 at risk girls and some boys.

GOALS & OBJECTIVES
The focus of GoPhilanthropic's support is in three main areas:
The focus of GoPhilanthropic's support is in three main areas:
- Continuing to support the CEF sponsorship program where we currently have 35 sponsored children. We are proud to say that our sponsor retention rate is almost 100% and we attribute this to our trusting relationship with CEF and the wonderful reporting that we are able to provide on the children.
- Ongoing support of children and caregiver's health through the funding of the Healthy Kids Fund.
- In addition, we have a "new program fund" which supports evolving needs like new program development and higher education scholarships to bridge any educational funding needs that the children may have. We also provide ongoing assistance with CEF organizational and program planning.
