WHAT THEY DO
Recognizing how eager young people in Laos were to enhance their education and skills, LEOT was formed in 2006 to support young people through College and University sponsorships. In 2012 LEOT opened the LEOT School.
The numbers being sponsored in the program vary from year to year with 22 students being sponsored in 2015, two of which were sponsored by a GoPhil donor. To date, 53 students have graduated as a result of LEOT scholarships and are leading productive, successful lives. This year 8 students have graduated and 28 students from the LEOT School are requesting some level of educational help from LEOT.
Along the way, the Trustees of LEOT received many requests from its scholarship students for additional English language tuition. In Laos such tuition is relatively expensive and not always of the highest standard so the idea of LEOT providing this tuition for its own scholarship students and a few others was formed. The concept mushroomed and a generous donation was received to build a school building on the outskirts of Luang Prabang. Thus the LEOT English School was established and opened its doors to about 120 students in September 2012.
Now starting its fourth year, 200 students will begin at the English School in September 2015. The students pay no fees and attend for 5 sessions each week, which are being taught by qualified Lao staff and native speaking volunteers. Students are aged 16 and above. Children from a local orphanage attend an additional class on Saturday mornings.
LEOT recognizes that many in their local community have little in the way of formal education and face a life of unemployment. Two vocational training programs are currently being planned: the first, a sewing workshop, is hoped to be operational this year followed by a Motoshop program in 2016. LEOT is also committed to local community capacity building and has supported surrounding communities with the building of wells, cleanup projects and the installation of electricity and sanitation to village school.

GOALS & OBJECTIVES
The focus of GoPhilanthropic's support is in three areas:
The focus of GoPhilanthropic's support is in three areas:
- Support higher education scholarship funds.
- Raise monies for the ongoing running costs of the learning centre, including offsetting a portion of teachers’ salary. This is important as we have found that attracting and retaining quality staff is a critical success factor for small organizations to achieve their goals.
- In addition, an emergent fund provides support for the Go Healthy Kids Fund as well as for those unforeseen situations that inevitably arise in an NGO in a developing country.
