A Day to Listen & Learn, Share Gratitude and Celebrate Community

#GivingTuesdayNow is designed to drive an influx of grassroots generosity, citizen engagement, business and philanthropy activation, and support for communities and nonprofits around the world. It is a day when we can all come together and give back in all ways, no matter who or where we are.

Following are 3 ways you can celebrate #GivingTuesdayNow with GoPhil on May 05.

1. Virtual GoPhil Gathering: Nepal

Join the next Virtual GoPhil Gathering: Nepal, a free, hour-long discussion hosted by Emily Bild, GoPhil Director of Programs, along with GoPhil partners Jamuna Shrestha (Child Rescue Nepal) and Rudra Neupane (PHASE Nepal). GoPhil partners around the world address unique and highly-localized challenges, but in the height of this global crisis, all are turning their focus to one imminent and global concern: responding to communities’ most urgent, essential needs.

This online gathering on the morning of Tuesday, May 05, coincides with #GivingTuesdayNow, a new global day of giving and unity as an emergency response to the global, unprecedented and ever-growing needs caused by COVID-19. For us, this day is all about highlighting the astounding generosity and solidarity we have felt from the GoPhil donor community since this crisis started.

2. Keep the Spirit of Giving Alive

At GoPhil, #GivingTuesdayNow is more about expressing gratitude and celebrating unity than fundraising. However, if there is space for you to give at the moment, the needs of GoPhil partners and communities are monumental and ever-growing. GoPhil partners and communities will need continued backing and shared strength to get through the next phase of this crisis.

Donations made to the Rapid Response Fund will support approved partners and raise fast, flexible mostly unrestricted funds that can be allocated to communities requiring essential needs such as food, shelter, water and health services.

#GivingTuesdayNow is an opportunity for people around the world to stand together in unity – to use their individual power of generosity to remain connected and heal.

3. Celebrate Gratitude & Unity

We celebrate #GivingTuesdayNow with overflowing gratitude for our dedicated and compassionate community of supporters, who have rallied behind GoPhil partners over the last several weeks and exceeded our most hopeful expectations. Together, we have raised over $100,000 in flexible emergency support through the Rapid Response Fund which is already making a tangible impact in marginalized communities around the world.

In lead up to #GivingTuesdayNow, SHARE something about the GoPhil community that you are grateful for on social media – a partner program that inspires you, a GoPhil Travel experience that changed you, or a meaningful connection you developed over the years. Use the #GivingTuesdayNow hashtag and also tag @GoPhilanthropic in your posts!

“We believe that in this time of global illness, we will finally see ourselves as one living, breathing interconnected whole. As individuals – or as organizations like GoPhil – we are a direct part of one another’s health and story, and our role is to share strength and vitality with the places in our system where they are needed most. In a model like this, the flow of money, air, food or resources has nothing to do with divvying up limited resources, but everything to do with allowing a flow of essential life force to reach where the aches are deepest — so we can all breathe better together.”
