Recently the large global IT software management company CA decided to partner with GoPhilanthropic in incorporating philanthropy into its incentive awards trips offered to its top producing employees. The trips are a way to congratulate those who have produced exceptional results for the company and are set in magnificent locations around the world. This year the Senior Management of thr globally-conscious CA decided that in giving back to its employees, it should also give back to the communities that host their incentive events. In February 2010 the company’s top regional sale representatives convened in Siem Reap, Cambodia for a 3 day tour of the Temples of Angkor Wat. During their stay, GoPhilanthropic facilitated a $10,000 donation to its partner local grassroots organization (JWOC) Journeys Within Our Community working on providing safe drinking water and free schools programs for the villages surrounding the famous temples. CA’s good-will did not simply involve writing a check to this inspirational organization—they wanted engagement in its efforts—to better understand the challenges facing the region and to see first hand how their donation could be used in supporting solutions. Activities were arranged between employees of the company and village community members–they included: cultural dancing from program members, an in-depth overview of the organization’s work, an onsite visit to a village where the clean water program was being facilitated, and assisting with one of JWOC’s free school classes.
